Water settle upon
A bruised, waiting earth
Cold and barren
With seeds just below
The earthen surface
Slowly green stems
Split the ground
Tearing the dirt membrane
Like dolphins for air
The green dolphins
Leap impossibly high for the sun
Drinking its light
And its nourishment
Except those that fell below
Those that never see
The sun in her glory
Except those cloaked
In the shade of the soil
Those that will never rise
Those within bruised, waiting,
Earth aching to recover
Set on a barren path
To a cold end
