The Monolithic Tree and the Castle of Silk

It has been what felt like millenia since the beast had left. I was a mere hatchling, but I do still renember when they were here. They were quite strange.

In the day they bundled up at what appeared to be the cage they were held in, and would voilently flood out once it opened. They would tun and scream just so that they could bundle up again. This time they would lock themselves in tiny cages and be carried into the sky by a monolithic spinning tree.

I believe this was some sort of courting ritual, since at the very top their faces would collide into each other. This correlated with later offspring, screaming in all colours of joy.

At night, if I were lucky I saw a subspiecies of the beasts. Thos could jump over the bars of the cage and were fully nocturnal. They typpically did not scream, they threw things and climbed things. However they had a vicious predator. This creature would run at blistering speeds, spewing blinding lights of red and blue. Then beasts would flee in terror, or be erradicated.

As of late, I only see the noctural beasts. The day dwellers seem content in their cage, which stays locked. I wish I could know what it looks like at the top of the tree. However I don't think my eight little legs can get me there, besides I'd much rather expand my castle of silk.
